Foundation Scripture:
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9
Let’s be real—life can hit hard sometimes. No matter how strong we think we are, we all hit moments where we feel drained, discouraged, and just plain weak. And if you’ve ever felt like you were running on empty, then you’re in good company. The Apostle Paul knew what that felt like too.
Paul went through it all—beaten, shipwrecked, thrown in prison, rejected—and yet, he never quit. But here’s the thing: he didn’t keep going because he was superhuman. He endured because he relied on God’s strength, not his own. That’s a lesson I’m still learning every day.
God’s Grace Is More Than Enough
Paul prayed for God to take away what he called a “thorn in the flesh”—something that really weighed him down. And God’s response? “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
That’s not always the answer we want, right? When we’re struggling, we’d rather God remove the difficulty altogether. But instead, He reminds us that His grace is enough. That even when we feel like we can’t go another step, His strength will carry us through.
Pushing Through the Hard Stuff
Paul’s life teaches us a few things about endurance:
- Hard times will come, but they don’t define us. Struggles refine us, shaping our faith and character.
- We don’t have to have all the answers. God’s got us covered, even when we feel clueless about what’s next.
- Our challenges can actually be a testimony. The things we go through might be the exact thing someone else needs to hear about so they can keep going too.
A Personal Reflection
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve felt like I was at the end of my rope. Whether it was in ministry, personal life, or just dealing with the everyday pressures of being a father, there have been moments when I wanted to throw my hands up and say, “I’m done.”
But every time, just when I thought I had nothing left, God stepped in. Not by instantly fixing everything, but by giving me just enough strength to take the next step. And that’s really the key—it’s not about having all the strength at once. It’s about trusting that God will give you exactly what you need for today.
Honestly, there were times when I thought my struggles were proof that I wasn’t strong enough, faithful enough, or even good enough. But Paul’s story reminds me that weakness isn’t failure—it’s an invitation for God to show up in ways we never imagined.
Leaning on God’s Strength Today
If you’re feeling worn out, I get it. We’ve all been there. But instead of trying to push through on your own, maybe it’s time to lean into God’s strength.
Take a deep breath. Pause for a moment. And remember—His grace is enough for you, right here, right now.
Some Things to Think About:
- What’s something heavy on your heart right now?
- Have you been trying to push through in your own strength instead of relying on God?
- Can you look back on a time when you felt weak, but God carried you through anyway?
Paul’s life is proof that when we walk in God’s strength, we don’t just survive—we thrive. And if today feels like too much, remember this: you don’t have to be strong enough—because He already is.
