I never expected that what broke me would also bless me. That the season I wanted to skip over, the one that made me question everything—would actually be the one God used to reroute me to purpose. Funny how that works, isn’t it?

There are some setbacks that feel like final chapters. A diagnosis. A divorce. A job loss. The closing of a door you thought would stay open forever. I’ve been there—staring down seasons I didn’t ask for, praying prayers I didn’t think were heard, holding my breath and holding back tears in places where I used to smile.

But here’s what I’ve come to know in the quiet: God doesn’t waste pain. He doesn’t overlook the parts of your story that didn’t turn out the way you planned. He repurposes them. Every tear, every delay, every detour—it all gets woven into something meaningful. Even if you don’t see it yet.

I used to think purpose was only found in the wins, the mountaintops, the applause. But more and more, I’m finding it in the valleys. In the silent prayers. In the nights I didn’t think I’d make it to morning. I’ve seen God stretch something beautiful out of what I thought was broken beyond repair.

There was a time I looked around and saw only what I lost. But somewhere in the rubble, purpose started to rise. And it didn’t come with fanfare—it came with peace. A knowing. A quiet strength that said, “You’re still here. And that means God’s not finished.”

Sometimes the greatest promotion comes wrapped in pain. Sometimes your calling is revealed through what tried to crush you. Sometimes the setback was really a setup—for God to show you just how intentional He’s always been.

If you’re in that place right now—wondering what good can come from this—I want you to know something: God sees it all. And He knows how to turn ashes into beauty. You don’t have to understand it today. Just trust that nothing you’ve been through will be wasted.

I’m living proof. What I thought would break me… built me. What I thought disqualified me… prepared me. And what I once called a setback? God now calls purpose.

Keep going. He’s not done yet.
