Too often we hear people say, “I’m just waiting on my blessing.” It sounds nice, but if you really think about it, waiting to be blessed can keep you stagnant—hands folded, eyes on the horizon—hoping for something to drop into your lap.

But what if the blessing is already here? What if you’re already walking in it, and the only thing missing is your recognition of it?

Blessed Is Not Future Tense

The Bible reminds us that blessings are not something far off in the distance, set aside for a future version of yourself. Paul writes in Ephesians 1:3 (NIV):

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”

Notice the language—has blessed us. Not will bless us. Not might bless us. Already done. It means when you woke up this morning with breath in your body, you woke up blessed.

What Waiting Really Costs

When we live in a mindset of “I’ll be blessed when…” we unintentionally delay joy, peace, and gratitude.

We tell ourselves:

  • I’ll be blessed when I get the promotion.
  • I’ll be blessed when my health turns around.
  • I’ll be blessed when my family finally comes together.

But waiting for life to seem perfect before calling it a blessing causes you to overlook the blessings hidden in today—the ones that don’t always come wrapped in shiny paper.

Blessing in Motion

The psalmist declared in Psalm 23:6 (NIV): “Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life…”

“Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life…”

That’s motion. Blessings don’t remain stationary. They pursue you. This means that wherever you go, you’re not in pursuit of blessings—blessings are in pursuit of you.

So instead of waiting for a special moment to say “I’m blessed,” embody it in your actions, your words, and your worship.

Living Like It’s Already Done

To stop waiting for a blessing and start living in it means:

  • Gratitude in the small things. Thank God for the daily bread, not just the banquet.
  • Confidence in your steps. Walk like you already have His favor—because you do.
  • Peace in process. Know that even the uncomfortable places carry blessing, because God wastes nothing.

Before You Go

I’m not waiting to be blessed. I am blessed—right here, right now. And so are you.

The question is not whether a blessing is on its way. The question is: Will you open your eyes to see the blessing that’s already present?
