There comes a point in life when you realize that knowing your value isn’t something you wait to feel. Feelings shift. People applaud you one season and forget your name the next. Value rooted in outside approval becomes unstable fast. It rises and falls with the moment. It bends under pressure. It disappears when affirmation gets quiet.
But value that comes from God stays steady.
Here’s my personal truth:
When I was in an emotionally unhealthy place, I let people set my value. Work defined me. Church roles defined me. And unhealthy relationship(s)—more than anything—shaped what I believed about myself. I handed out pieces of my worth to situations that weren’t stable enough to hold them. I let expectations, titles, and broken places tell me who I was. And now that I’m on the other side, I can see exactly where I went wrong: I expected people to determine what only God could establish.
Scripture reminds us again and again that worth isn’t earned—it’s given.
“I praise You because I am remarkably and wondrously made.” — Psalm 139:14 (CSB)
God settles your identity before life ever tries to distort it.
Some days you’ll feel confident. Other days you’ll feel invisible. That’s human. But your value isn’t tied to visibility. It doesn’t diminish because you’re tired or increase because you’re succeeding. It doesn’t grow with applause or shrink under criticism. Value is truth—not emotion.
A lot of us walk around repeating things that were spoken over us years ago. Words from hurt places. Words from insecure people. Words that didn’t reflect God’s heart. But you have the right to release labels that never belonged to you.
When you embrace who God says you are, your posture changes. You stop shrinking to fit someone’s comfort zone. You stop chasing places that can’t hold your calling. You stop explaining your worth to those committed to misunderstanding you.
Knowing your value isn’t arrogance—it’s alignment.
It’s standing in a truth that doesn’t shift.
It’s accepting that God’s view of you outranks your feelings.
It’s walking with steadiness, even on uncertain days.
Your value is settled.
Your identity is secure.
And nothing about your story—past or present—can reduce what God has already declared.
