– Trusting the Steps You Can’t Explain Yet

We like answers. We like plans. We like to know what comes next.

But there are times when God gives instructions without explanation—and obedience becomes an invitation to trust Him more deeply.

Sometimes the step won’t make sense until you’ve taken it.

Walking Blind Doesn’t Mean Walking Alone

Abram was told to “Go from your land…to the land that I will show you” (Genesis 12:1, CSB). No map. No GPS. Just “Go.”

And still, he went.

Because faith isn’t built on having all the details—it’s built on knowing the One who directs the steps.

There are moments in your life when God will ask you to forgive someone without knowing if they’ll ever change. Or to apply for something without knowing how you’ll pay for it. Or to walk away from what feels familiar without knowing what comes next.

Obedience rarely waits for understanding; it creates space for it.

The Tension of Trust

There’s a certain discomfort in moving before you’re ready—before it’s all figured out. But clarity often follows commitment.

It’s in the journey that God reveals.

It’s in the letting go that peace comes.

It’s in the “yes” that purpose begins to unfold.

So if you’re feeling the urge to step into something that doesn’t completely make sense yet, don’t assume it’s wrong just because it’s unclear. Obedience doesn’t always bring immediate comfort, but it always brings you closer to the will of God.

A Few Truths to Hold On To

  • God never asked for your understanding first—just your trust.
  • The peace you want is often waiting on the other side of your obedience.
  • You don’t have to explain a step God told you to take.
  • Faith doesn’t mean you’re not afraid—it means you’re moving anyway.
  • The instructions might be confusing, but the Instructor is faithful.

Scripture That Anchors

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5–6 (CSB)

Before You Go

You don’t have to understand everything to obey. Sometimes, God will teach you while you’re moving what you never could’ve learned by staying still.

The step you’re afraid to take might just be the one that leads you to the peace you’ve been praying for.

Move anyway.
