At 56, I made a decision I never thought I would—I started a blog.
It’s funny how life comes full circle. I have a background in journalism, but I gave up on it years ago. Somewhere along the way, I convinced myself that chapter had closed. I moved into technology, built a career in IT and consulting, and devoted myself to ministry. Writing took a backseat as I focused on serving others, leading, and navigating the responsibilities that came with each season of my life. But here I am, after decades in different fields, finding my way back to words.
Writing again has been unexpectedly fulfilling. What started as a simple outlet has become a space where I reflect, share, and process life’s twists and turns. I never imagined blogging would feel this natural, but in many ways, it’s like reconnecting with an old friend—one I didn’t realize I missed.
If you’re considering stepping into something new—or even returning to something you once loved—let me encourage you: It’s never too late. We evolve, we grow, and sometimes, we rediscover pieces of ourselves that we thought were lost.
Starting over at any stage of life can feel daunting. Doubt whispers that it’s too late, that the time has passed. But here’s what I’ve learned: The passion never really disappears. It waits. And when you’re ready to embrace it again, it welcomes you back like you never left.
So, whether it’s a new career, a forgotten passion, or an unexplored dream—go for it. You don’t have to have it all figured out. Just take the first step, and let the journey unfold.
I thought my writing days were behind me, but this blog has shown me otherwise. Maybe there’s something in your life waiting to be rediscovered too. The question is: Are you ready to start again?
