Have you ever noticed that being blessed doesn’t always feel easy? Sometimes, blessings come with unexpected challenges—things that try to steal your joy, distract you, or make you question your worthiness. Let’s talk about how to stay strong, protect your blessings, and keep your focus where it belongs.
1. Doubt Creeps In
Have you ever wondered, “Do I really deserve this?” or worried, “What if it doesn’t last?” Those thoughts can weigh heavy. But here’s the truth: God didn’t bless you by accident.
What to Do: Speak life over yourself with 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” Write it down. Repeat it. Let it sink in.
2. Relationships Feel Strained
Sometimes, blessings can shake up relationships. Misunderstandings or jealousy might pop up, leaving you feeling alone.
What to Do: Prioritize peace. “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” (Mark 3:25) Be intentional about forgiveness, clear communication, and seeking unity.
3. Pride Sneaks In
It’s easy to think, “I made this happen.” But blessings are a gift, not a reward.
What to Do: Stay humble. Proverbs 16:18 reminds us, “Pride goes before destruction.” Acknowledge God as the source of your success and give Him the glory.
4. You’re Overwhelmed by Responsibilities
Blessings often bring busyness—new roles, more demands, or added pressure. It can feel like too much.
What to Do: Slow down and prioritize time with God. Remember what Jesus told Martha: “You are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed.” (Luke 10:41-42) Don’t let the busyness take away your focus on Him.
5. You Start Comparing Yourself to Others
Even when you’re blessed, it’s tempting to look at what someone else has and wonder if you’re enough.
What to Do: Stop the scroll. Galatians 6:4 says, “Each one should test their own actions…without comparing themselves to someone else.” Gratitude silences comparison, so count your blessings daily.
6. Gratitude Feels Hard
Sometimes, instead of focusing on what you have, your mind lingers on what’s missing.
What to Do: Practice thanksgiving. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18) Gratitude shifts your heart back to joy.
7. Past Mistakes Resurface
Ever feel unworthy of what you’ve been given because of your past? Those thoughts can weigh you down.
What to Do: Remind yourself of who you are in Christ. “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) Your past doesn’t define you—God does.
8. Temptations Seem Stronger
Sometimes, blessings come with temptations to misuse them.
What to Do: Lean into God’s strength. “God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.” (1 Corinthians 10:13) Pray for wisdom and self-control.
9. It Feels Lonely
Blessings can isolate you, especially if others don’t understand or share in them.
What to Do: Stay connected to your community. Ecclesiastes 4:9 reminds us, “Two are better than one.” Surround yourself with people who will pray with you and celebrate your blessings.
10. Your Joy Feels Faded
Even when life is good, sometimes the joy just isn’t there.
What to Do: Reconnect with God through worship. “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10) Joy flows when we’re in His presence.
11. Your Focus Shifts to What You Did
It’s tempting to measure blessings by what you’ve accomplished instead of what God has done.
What to Do: Remember, “Every good and perfect gift is from above.” (James 1:17) Keep your focus on the Giver, not just the gift.
12. You Worry About Losing It All
Fear of losing your blessings can make it hard to enjoy them.
What to Do: Trust in God’s plan. “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7) He doesn’t bless you to take it away—He blesses you to grow and thrive.
Keep Your Focus on God
Being blessed is a gift, but it also comes with responsibilities. Protecting your blessings isn’t about working harder—it’s about staying connected to God, staying humble, and staying grateful.
