Over the past century, technological advancements have often been met with both excitement and trepidation. For some, each new breakthrough has carried an ominous warning, labeled as the work of the “Antichrist” or tied to end-time prophecies. This pattern, fueled by fears of societal change and perceived threats to religious or moral values, has accompanied innovations from the printing press to artificial intelligence.
Why do such concerns arise? Often, it’s the unknown that triggers fear—particularly when a new technology challenges long-standing traditions or reshapes daily life. The concerns are understandable: will these innovations lead us away from our values, or can they coexist with our faith?
Billy Graham’s words, “The will of God will not take us where the grace of God cannot sustain us,” offer a different perspective. Instead of viewing new technologies as harbingers of doom, this view encourages us to see them as opportunities for growth. Just as earlier advancements like the radio and television were once feared, today’s tools like AI and the internet can be used to spread messages of hope, connect communities, and even deepen our spiritual practices.
The story of technology labeled as the “Antichrist” is, in many ways, a reflection of our broader struggle to balance change with tradition. Yet, by embracing faith alongside progress, we can navigate these uncertain waters, using new tools to serve and uplift others rather than fearing them.
