There are moments when you show up, serve faithfully, and still question if you belong. You read the Word, you pray, you give, you love—and yet a voice creeps in and says, “Who do you think you are?”
That’s imposter syndrome, and yes—it shows up in spiritual places too.
I don’t write this from a distance. I write this as one who battles with this issue too. There are days I wonder if I’m doing enough. Days I question if I’m really equipped for the spaces God has placed me in. I’ve preached while doubting myself. I’ve led while feeling small. And I’ve prayed prayers I wasn’t sure I believed for myself—but still believed for others.
You’re not the only one who feels like you don’t belong where God put you.
Moses questioned his speech. Jeremiah doubted his age. Gideon called himself the least. Peter denied Christ. Thomas needed proof. Paul carried the memory of his past violence like a shadow.
Still—God called them. Still—He used them.
That tells me this: the feeling of being unqualified doesn’t always mean you’re in the wrong place. Sometimes, it’s the sign you’re leaning more on God than yourself.
The enemy wants you stuck in self-doubt. He wants you more focused on your flaws than your faith. But God? He already factored in your fears and insecurities when He called you. And He still said, “Go.”
You don’t have to prove yourself to be used by God.
If you’re trying to earn your seat at the table, hear this: God already set your place. You’re not a guest—you’re His.
Imposter syndrome makes you over-explain, over-apologize, and overthink. But grace lets you breathe. Grace reminds you that being chosen isn’t about being flawless. It’s about being faithful—even when you’re afraid.
You don’t need a perfect spiritual résumé to walk in what God’s called you to. You just need a willing heart and the courage to show up anyway.
Show up like someone God chose—because you are.
Instead of asking God to make you more like someone else, start asking Him to make you more like the version of you He already had in mind.
If you’ve been second-guessing your calling…
If you’ve been shrinking in spaces where God told you to stand…
If you’ve been hiding your gifts or your story because you feel unqualified…
It’s time to stop believing the lie that you’re faking it.
You’re not.
You’re favored.
You’re forgiven.
You’re filled.
You’re not an imposter—you’re chosen.
And I say that not just as a writer, but as a witness. I’ve wrestled with doubt. I’ve sat in rooms and wondered if I belonged. But I’ve also watched God move through my yes—even when I offered it with trembling hands.
So keep showing up. Keep walking it out. Keep trusting the One who called you.
Because He’s not looking for perfect people.
He’s looking for available ones.
