Let’s be honest…
There are moments in life where something happens and it feels like God let you get embarrassed.
Something gets exposed.
A moment doesn’t go the way you expected.
You’re corrected—and not privately.
And the question hits you:
“God… why like this?”
Embarrassment vs. Exposure
I’ve had to learn this the hard way.
Embarrassment tears you down.
It leaves you feeling ashamed, small, and wanting to hide.
But what God does is different.
God exposes—He doesn’t embarrass.
And even that word “expose” can feel uncomfortable. But His intent is never humiliation… it’s restoration.
When God Brings Things to Light
📖 Luke 12:2 (CSB)
“There is nothing covered that won’t be uncovered, nothing hidden that won’t be made known.”
That scripture can sound heavy if you read it from a place of fear.
But it’s not about God trying to “put you on blast.”
It’s about God loving you enough not to let things stay hidden that could harm you later.
Because what stays hidden… grows.
And what grows unchecked… eventually controls.
Peter: A Public Failure… and a Public Restoration
Think about Peter.
He denied Jesus—publicly.
Not once. Three times.
That moment had to feel embarrassing.
The kind of moment you wish you could rewind.
But Jesus didn’t leave him there.
📖 John 21:17 (NLT)
“Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep.’”
Jesus restored Peter in a way that matched the weight of his failure.
Not to shame him…
but to reaffirm his calling.
What We Call Embarrassment…
Sometimes what we’re calling embarrassment is actually:
- God interrupting our pride
- God correcting our direction
- God protecting our future
- God refusing to let us stay in something that’s beneath who we’re called to be
And if I’m being real…
Some of my “embarrassing” moments were moments where
God wouldn’t let me keep pretending everything was okay.
The Heart Behind It
📖 Hebrews 12:6 (CSB)
“For the Lord disciplines the one he loves…”
That’s the part we don’t always sit with long enough.
God’s correction isn’t rooted in rejection.
It’s rooted in relationship.
Let’s Talk Honestly
Because this isn’t always easy.
There are moments where:
- You get corrected in front of people
- Something you tried to keep quiet becomes known
- You’re humbled in a space where you thought you were solid
And it can feel uncomfortable.
It can even feel like your image took a hit.
But God isn’t managing your image.
He’s shaping your identity.
The Difference You Have to Remember
The enemy embarrasses to shame you.
God exposes to free you.
One pushes you into hiding.
The other calls you into healing.
What God Is Really After
God is more concerned with:
- your character than your comfort
- your calling than your image
- your healing than your ability to hide
And sometimes… that process happens in ways we didn’t choose.
Final Thought
If something in your life gets exposed…
Don’t automatically assume God is trying to make you look bad.
He may be:
- removing what doesn’t belong
- revealing what needs healing
- realigning you with who you’re becoming
Because God doesn’t embarrass you to break you.
He exposes what’s necessary… to build you.
