Change often begins as a restlessness you can’t explain.
Sometimes you feel something shifting long before you see anything move. It’s that quiet restlessness—nothing dramatic, nothing loud—just a gentle tug that interrupts your comfort. I’ve lived long enough to know that when God stirs you, He’s not punishing you. He’s preparing you.
The stirring will show up in places that used to satisfy you. Things you once enjoyed suddenly feel too small. What used to fill you now feels like it barely touches the surface. You wake up sensing, Something’s coming… and I’m not the same person I was last season.
I’ve learned the hard way that the stirring isn’t God trying to frustrate you; it’s Him trying to free you. Sometimes He must shake loose what you’ve outgrown—mindsets, patterns, assignments, even relationships—so you don’t stay where you were never meant to settle.
The Bible shows us this pattern clearly. Before God sent Moses back to Egypt, He stirred him with discomfort in Midian—because comfort can keep you stuck longer than fear ever will. Before Joseph stepped into the palace, he felt the stirring long before the dream ever made sense. Even Jesus felt a stirring when the time was coming for Him to step into His public assignment.
Scripture says in the NLT, “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” (Philippians 2:13). Notice that order—desire first, power next. The stirring happens before the sending.
And here’s what I’ve been sitting with in my own life:
God will sometimes let you feel uncomfortable in a place He knows you’ll eventually leave. That discomfort isn’t a sign of immaturity—it’s a sign of growth. The stirring is God’s way of saying, “What I’ve placed in you needs more room.”
This is where faith gets real. You may not know where He’s sending you yet. You may not have the blueprint. You may not have the timing. But the stirring means get ready.
Get your spirit ready.
Get your mind ready.
Get your house ready.
Get your heart ready.
Preparation is not wasted time. It’s alignment. And God will never stir you for something small. If He disrupted your peace, it’s because He’s calling you into purpose.
And let me be honest—sometimes the stirring feels like loss. Like something breaking down. Like something slipping through your fingers. But every time God has stirred me, it’s because He was moving me toward something bigger, stronger, and healthier than what I was trying to hold onto.
So if you feel restless, don’t panic. Don’t rush. Don’t force clarity. Sit with God. Let Him show you what’s shifting. Let Him show you what He’s preparing.
Because when God stirs you, He’s getting ready to send you—into new territory, new strength, new healing, new purpose. And when you finally get there, you’ll realize the stirring wasn’t discomfort…
It was destiny waking up.
