When It Feels Right… But Isn’t Aligned

There’s a subtle danger in spiritual language without spiritual foundation.

We hear things like:

“God told me…”

“I feel led…”

“This just feels right…”

But here’s the question we don’t always ask:

Does it align with Scripture?

📖 2 Timothy 3:16–17 (CSB)

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

If Scripture is what equips us, then anything claiming to come from God should not contradict what He has already established.

God is not divided against Himself.

The Spirit Doesn’t Freelance

The Holy Spirit doesn’t operate independently of the Word—He confirms it.

📖 John 16:13 (CSB)

“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth… He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.”

Notice that—He guides into truth, not away from it.

So if something is pulling you outside of biblical truth, it may feel spiritual… but it’s not the Spirit.

And that’s a hard truth.

Because sometimes what we want… tries to dress itself up as what God said.

Discernment Requires More Than Emotion

Emotion isn’t the enemy—but it can’t be the authority.

There are moments when we’re tired, hurt, or even hopeful—and in those spaces, we can mistake desire for direction.

That doesn’t make you weak.

It means you’re human.

But growth requires that we pause and test what we’re hearing.

📖 1 John 4:1 (CSB)

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are from God…”

Testing isn’t doubt—it’s maturity.

I’ve Had to Check Myself Too

I’ve had moments where I was convinced something was God.

I felt peace about it.

I justified it.

I even tried to move on it.

But when I slowed down… and really compared it to the Word…

It didn’t line up.

And that’s not always easy to admit.

But I’m learning that correction is not rejection—it’s protection.

God isn’t trying to take something from us.

He’s trying to keep us from building on something that won’t last.

The Word Grounds What We Feel

Here’s what I’m holding onto in this season:

Not everything spiritual is scriptural.

And not everything that feels good is God.

But when the Word confirms it…

when it aligns…

when it holds up under truth…

There’s a different kind of peace there.

A steady kind.

The kind that doesn’t fade when emotion does.

Before You Move… Check the Word

Before you act on what you feel…

Before you speak on what you sensed…

Before you make that decision…

Check the Word.

Let Scripture be the filter.

Because God will never tell you something today

that contradicts what He already said.
